Dear Garden Club,
Long ago (1962?), my parents took me to Natchez and we stayed in an antebellum home that I believe was arranged through a club such as yours. I was 8 years old. My most vivid memory was of sleeping on a straw mattress for the first time in my life. Also, there was an old (cast iron?) mechanical toy coin bank in my bedroom. Could the home have been Melrose?
